Glad To Have the Company; Latvia is Officially 'Euroskeptik'

As though I might have been a lone outrider in the wilderness
(according to some local EU sycophants)...
I translate a bit from a LETA/Delfi article for educational purposes:
'Of the 25 EU member nations Latvia's residents are the most
eurosceptic according to the latest 'Eurobrometer' figures published by
Diena.
The european commission which ordered the survey declined to comment
allegedly because the final report has not yet been completed.
Nevertheless unofficially it has has been admitted that the results
from Latvia have been alarming (to some).
"It is difficult to understand, because the figures from other new
member nations have been stable or have increased. And this while the
economy has been growing at a fast rate. The government had best start
acting, else the eurosceptic political parties will gain increasing
popularity", said one EU source.
[!!! Is this smurf suggesting that the Latvian government actively
surpress any political viewpoint that does not support EU fawning?]
Based on the Diena figures, only 29% of those polled considered that EU
membership was a good idea. The second most euro-sceptical country was
Austria where only 31% thought that EU mebership was beneficial, while
the UK was in third place at 33%.
This is the first time that Latvia has gained the top-most
euro-sceptical position in polling. Europe as a whole averages 49% with
Luxemburg, the Netherlands, and Ireland at 70% europositive.

Europarliamentarian Inese Vaidere (TB/LNNK) suggests that the polling
figures are the "consequential negative result of recent traumatic
history" imposed on everyone; something that doesn't allow expectation
for optimism, while at the same time being reinforced by overly
negative media.
