Tragic and triumphant.. The people of Lithuania and Latvia stood up and
defended their right to freedom and sovereignty.
Please be more inclusive; remember Latvia too - on this the 15th
anniversary of Baltic freedom. It should be remembered that over
700,000 Latvians flocked to the barricades *after* russian tanks and
armed paratroopers had murdered freedom-seeking Lithuanians in Vilnius.
They knew perfectly well that death could also await them at the hands
of bloodthirsty russian murderers, too. And some of them did die too,
when the assassin squads of the Gorbachov's Kremlin shot their way into
the Latvian Interior Ministry building a few days later.
Together with the Lithuanian patriots, those Latvians too deserve a
cherished and abiding place in the memories of all Baltic citizens.
