As you can probably guess, the view here in Läti is a bit different
(though the question is different, too) -- the percentage of people who
rated the year negatively exceeded the percentage that rated it
positively for the first time since 2000 -- 27% described 2005 as worse
than 2004, whilst 26% thought it was better. 18% think next year will
be worse (compared to 10-14% who thought that way for the last five
years). 34% have high hopes for 2006 and 37% await more of the same.
The most optimistic folks are ethnic Latvians, the young (age 18-34),
those who work in the public sector (!), those who have higher
education, and those in Rīga and Vidzeme.
