That's typical (or I hope for today untypical) yankee approach.
Unhappily Earth's energy resources ARE biggest problem for a mankind.
With looking for more heatproof technologies we will survive a bit
longer in a situation where blood is a bit more expencive then
gasoline. But as you know that thing may change any day.

I try to explain one more time that insulation is different thing.
Bricks are much more expencive then "laminate wall" (in both material
costs and expecially if you will pay for labour - laminate wall house
one can erect in few days, "as seen on TV")- just our climate don't
allow to make paper houses.
