Breakfast question

Hello all travellers here,

despite being travelling journalist, I have problem to separate
different breakfast styles (journalist travels not on his own money, so
he eats what particular hotel offers). Now I'm planning for Egypt on my
own , but when choosing hotel, there are notice about english, american
or continental breakfest. What is behind the meal names?
