The fairy tale of "broken promices" was manufactured responding to the
demand from the russian nationalists. In a way it helped them to accept
reality using familiar thinking pattern - feeling sorry for themselves
as victims of yet another conspiracy. In the meantime even the most
retarded seem to have no need for it anymore. But here comes Mir ...
