Tensions in Afghanistan

Taliban Wednesday claimed blowing up a vehicle of occupation forces with a
landmine in Zabul province last night. The occupation troops, however,
rejected Taliban claim.

Taliban fighters blew up a vehicle of occupation forces with a landmine in
Shinkay district of Zabul province last night but we do not have further
details of the damage caused by the explosion, Taliban spokesman Qari
Muhammad Yousaf told Afghan Islamic Press by phone from an undisclosed
location.

When Afghan Islamic Press contacted spokeswoman of coalition troops in
Kabul, she said, "We have no reports of such an incident occurring in Zabul
province last night."

Taliban on Wednesday claimed also responsibility of attack on a district
puppet "police chief" in Farah province.

Spokesman of Taliban Mujahiddeen, Qari Muhammad Yousaf, phoned the office of
Afghan Islamic Press in Peshawar and said, "Taliban fighters attacked
district "police chief" of Gulistan in Farah province last night."

The karzay "officials" of Farah province confirmed that puppet "police
chief" of Gulistan district, Sardar Muhammad was injured and his brother
was killed in the attack.

Taliban claimed also firing three rockets at Kabul last night. Spokesman of
Taliban Mujahiddeen, Dr. Muhammad Hanif said, "Our Mujahiddeen fired three
rockets at Kabul last night in which one landed in US embassy while the
other two hit the outside area."

He added that the reports of two mine explosions in Kabul were not correct
as the explosions were caused by the landing of rockets fired by Taliban and
its huge sound was heard far and wide.

Taliban spokesman told Afghan Islamic Press that they did not know about the
damage caused by the rockets attack.

Earlier four karzay "border forces" were wounded in a clash with Pakistanis
security forces at Pak-Afghan border in Paktia.

Puppet karxay "governor" of Khost province, Mairajuddin Pathan while giving
details to Afghan Islamic Press said that clash took place between the
Pakistani force and karzay formation when Pakistani forces were setting up a
gate inside the border of Afghanistan in Speena Shega area of Paktia
province.

A fierce clash continued for some time in which both the sides used light
and heavy weapons, he said, adding that four karzay "troops" were injured
and one their vehicles was destroyed in the firing.
