PM admits petrol prices could affect inflation

Prime Minister John Howard says if high petrol prices are sustained
over a long period of time they could have an inflationary effect.

Mr Howard says the Federal Government is closely monitoring and
analysing the high price of petrol.

The Prime Minister says the Government gains $14 billion in revenue
from the excise on petrol each year.

But he has told Southern Cross radio an ad hoc reduction in the tax is
not the way to proceed.

"To be noticed, let alone appreciated and accepted as a genuine
response, you would have to have a significant reduction and given the
level of the price of petrol now, a significant reduction is in my
opinion is five to ten cents a litre - five to ten cents a litre is
billions of dollars in excise revenue," he said.

This is a quote from a man who has probably never bought petrol for,
or paid registration and insurance on a vehicle for the last 30
years.

Why - because the little monkey has been in government for so long, we
sap taxpayers have always paid it for him.

It really pisses me off that this little prick can be so blase about
something that effects everyone but himself (and his govt stooges).

I love the comment - it may effect inflation.

If the little dickwad had spent anytime shopping, he might have
noticed that the cost of food and just about every other service has
increased dramatically due to the cost of freight.

But he has staff for that - paid for by us of course.

And the worse thing is that once he is deposed as PM, he will go onto
a fat pension, with a private tax payer funder car and driver, office
and phone, and still won't know what is is like to have to pay for
anything himself.

I think I'll go into politics - what a life!
