Not all stereotypes are equal, because some have greater power to

In the 20th century:
"All Germans are efficient" but, "All Jews are vermin."
Nowadays, I can observe two different (young) people from German and
Jewish descent talk amicably about stuff, like if one grandfather was
chasing the other.
Throughout man's history, racial/ethnic/religious stereotype
have been used by those in power to oppress others.
ISTM it not that stereotypes are unequal, but the powers
of those that use them are unequal. The same negative
jewish stereotype used by a WWII German Nazi Stormtrooper
in a Jewish "resettlement camp" does not have the
same power as that being used by an "Aryan Nation"
American Nazi in Idaho.
(To be a Buddhist about WWII, maybe I should ask myself if anything is
gained from trying to understand why one group has to suffer
intergenerational guilt and another is missing huge portions of a
generation.)
If you were a Buddhist, you would not be trying to understand
or struggle with all the suffering and wrongs of the world.
Instead, your efforts would be separate yourself from those
worldly passions and struggling so you could focus in on
reaching enlightment .
Phillip Seymour Hoffman can convincingly play the stereotypical,
Nietzchean white male villian, like Donald Rumsfeld, *** Cheney John
Ashcroft - these are not nice white guys, but hey, what if they were
Asian? What if they were all Asian and lived 35 miles north of Seoul?
They would be the villians in the next South Park puppet movie?
What do stereotypes do for Condoleeza Rice? If the U.S. Secretary of
Defense were an Asian woman, would people stay on the level in their
dialogue about national security, as I think they do already? Or would
the Secretary get turned into a dragonlady and eventually fired,
impeached, etc. etc. etc...
I don't remember anyone
stereotyping Dr. Rice as anything.
however, I had read things that identify her as a hawkish neo-con
You can't impeach a cabinet member.
