Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission
Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Sunday that parliaments in Islamic
countries should cooperate to help resolve issues of World Muslims.
Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union (IIPU), through regular and timely
contact among members, can play a significant role in resolving the
challenges and issues of Islamic countries, he said.
Boroujerdi made the remarks in a meeting with Secretary General
of IIPU Mahmoud Urul Gilich here on Sunday. Given the significant
role of IIPU, Boroujerdi called on its secretary general to play a
much more active role in bolstering the status of the union in Islamic
countries as well as in the world.
World Muslims have deep-rooted ties and should properly showcase
the rich Islamic civilization in the world, he said. He hoped to witness
a promising future for the union at the international level.
Gilich, for his part, briefed Boroujerdi of the performance of the
union as well as its future programs.
