'Distract and grab' robbers target working women

Tampa, Florida - Tampa Police say two men are targeting female employees
who are working alone at the front desk of small businesses. The
suspects walk into the businesses and play the role of an interested
customer.

While the first suspect makes small talk distracting the victim away
from the office area, the second suspect goes behind the counter and
steals the wallet from the her purse. By the time the victim notices her
wallet is missing, the suspects have used the credit cards to buy
cigarettes, food and department store gift cards.

Tampa detectives are conducting surveillance to locate the suspects.
They believe they are also connected to similar crimes in Temple
Terrace. There have been at least five victims in Tampa over the past
several weeks.

The first suspect is described as a black male, missing a tooth on right
side, 50 - 64 years old, 6', and large build. The second suspect is
described as a black male with no teeth, 50 - 64 years old, 5'5", thin
build, and mumbled when he talked.
