TADITIONAL AFRICAN ART AND IMAGES
My main focus will be to open discusions on African Art both
traditional and contemporary. Though I specialize in Traditional
African images I am well aware that most Africans and Africans in
Diaspora do not. I was trained in European art, but I aleady had an art
background before I went to Art School. By age 16 I was participating
in museum exhibitions with adults.
I will make refeneces to the following database during my discussions
concerning African Art: "African Image Database". It is one I compiled
myself. Almost everything that I will make references to will be in
that database, or other references I add from time to time. The address
of the first reference is:
http://www.earthmetropolis.com/Africa_West_and_South_of_The_Nile/slides.html
The information at that database is free. You don't have to have a
membership to view material in the database. Next time I will provide
information on why an Online Traditional African Art Database is
important. The second lesson will explain how to use the database (find
information).
Fill free to add any information, ask questions or tell us about your
self and your interest in art. If you are and artist be sure you leave
us a link so that we can view your work on line.
Until Next Time
