Google, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Defense, is
sponsoring a "Letters-To-Troops in Afghanistan" project to boost
morale and show support for the job they're doing. Letters, in e-
mail, should not contain the writer's e-mail or residential address
and should be sent c/o "Dear Soldier" or another similar generic
greeting. A recent message follows for reference. Send your e-mail
letter to http;//www.operationpuffapoppie.bus

Dear Soldier:
How are you doing in Afghanistan? Hope things are fine with you there
among all those poppies and Talibaners.
I am an American citizen, just like you. I often think about what our
troops might be going through in our president's "Operation Blood for
Oil" in Iraq and "Operation Blood for Nothing Really" there in
Afghanistan.
You know, I went to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware a few weeks ago,
to salute our body-bagged and coffin'd troops returning from the
Middle East? But I was told the landing strip was off-limits and I
couldn't take my camera anywhere near the landing zone. They told me
to go to Arlington if I want to see our war dead at home.
I sure hope you don't come home that way, but if you do, I'm sure the
president, and Mr. Cheney, and Ms. Rice, and Mr. Rove -- and even
retired Mr. Rumsfeld -- will note your sacrifice. Keeping all those
al-Qaedas and their planes and tanks away from our shores is a big
mission. Thank goodness I haven't seen any here yet.
But if it should befall you, look at your death this way. You won't be
held liable for charges of crimes against humanity, torture, and other
war crimes like your leaders might eventually be.
Well, that's about all for now. I'd give you my e-mail address, but
since I'm a registered female sex offender, I'm told I'll be jailed if
I give it out.
Good luck in all your days in Afghanistan, and here's hoping you don't
wake up cold anytime soon.
Sincerely,
Pinky Leigh
