Normally a valid assumption. But, Cal PolySLOis the jewel in the crown in
the Cal State University system in the eyes of many people. UCIrvineis an
excellent school, but is probably 4th to 6th among the UCs, depending upon
whom you ask. (Not a slam on UCIrvineby any means! But if you are in the
same state as Berkeley, Stanford, Cal Tech, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, and UC Davis,
it's hard to stand out sometimes.)

I would tend to agree thatSLO'sreputation is mostly within the state of
California, though, so if she plans on heading east after graduation, UCI
might be a wiser decision. But hiring ofSLOgrads has been very good in
recent years, at least the last time I checked.

So...which one does *she* like better?

I remember going for a lecture about colleges a year back.

They had something interesting to say

a) UC is more into research and makes people think

b) Cal state Colleges are more job orientied and focus on using
technologies that have already been developed.

So How do UC's make people think .....Do all students get involved in
research projects or just a few 5 percent or 10 percent ???
