Re: MBA Questions.

This question really needs some supporting details in order to provide a
meaningful answer IMHO.

Such as:

1. Type of program - full time, part time, executive, or?

2. Geographic location?

If you are attending part time, my expectation is that most of the programs
will be generic. This is not necessarily a bad thing, as employed students
are getting OJT in their current job anyway.

But MBA programs vary widely, and I think you may be picking an area where
the top ten programs have not chosen to specialize, so conventional wisdom
may not be the best guide.

For instance, Harvard's MBA program appears to include only one real
estate-oriented elective course, and it is advertised as being oriented
towards international real estate. I'm sure it's a great course. [I am
guilty of wanting to take almost all the courses I see described :o) ] Of
course, they may have extensive offerings in this area which I didn't see,
but it's not evident.

However, there seem to be more courses on real estate taught in the JFK
school at Harvard, so perhaps an MBA is not the appropriate degree.

OTOH, California State University Northridge offers a business admin degree
with a real estate specialization (see http://busecon.csun.edu/fin/ ). So,
if you have not already got a bachelors, a program like this may be a useful
option, and more oriented to the nuts and bolts of real estate.

For a masters degree, you might also investigate USC, which offers a program
specifically for real estate:

But you need to do some further research, and it sounds like casting a net
outside the normal MBA programs would be a good step.
