career path advice? - need to get out of soc sci

Hi - I've read some of the archives of this group and this seems like a good
place to get advice. I'm half way through a MA in sociology right now (I
have a BA in psychology) and basically at this point feel like I've dug
myself into a hole with the social sciences jobwise - a career doing
research or being a prof don't appeal to me anymore, and those 2 professions
being the main ones in the social sci, I feel like I need to get out. I'm
basically just looking for any advice on what to go into. My brain has been
kind of permanently burnt out for rote memorization since I finished college
so things like med school / law school are probably out. I also have a very
strong aversion to borrowing money for school. I've looked into some very
specialized fields, like acturarial science (not good enough at math to pass
the tests) or air traffic controller (eh) but I don't have any good plans
yet. My strongest ideas right now include a Ph.D. program in neuroscience
which I was accepted into for Fall 2006, while it's psychology it seems
practical since they have a clinical program in sleep disorders. Also I've
been considering going "back" into computer science (unofficially majored in
it in college for one semester - switched because it wasn't that interesting
and was tough, but thinking of going back in) by getting an AS at my
community college then a BS in one of the state schools. Sorry for the
length of this post.
Thanks for any advice/suggestions
Dave K
