I have a questionnaire that asks many yes/no questions and other
questions regarding type of shoes being worn and exercise. Some of
the questions are as follows:

1) Do you exercise? yes or no (1=yes, 0=no)
If yes, how many months? (Enter # months)
2) Have you experienced and injury from exercise? yes or no (1=yes,
0=no)
3) What brand of shoes do you wear? 1=Nike, 2=Adidas, 3=Reebok, 4=New
Balance, 5=K-Swiss, 6=Other
4) What type of shoes do you wear? 1=Running, 2=Walking,
3=Crosstraining, 4=Hiking

There are many other similar types of questions...

I am trying to see if there is a relationship between many of these
questions. For example, is there a relationship between #months
exercising and those experiencing an injury? Would this be a simple t-
test?

Also is there a relationship between brand of shoe (1-6) and those
experiencing an injury from exercise (yes or no)? Correlation? T-
test? What would be the best stats to use for these types of
questions?

Can anyone help? I am trying to run some of these stats in SPSS. I
realize these are not the best questions, but I have many
questionnaires and would like to start something. I really would
appreciate any help. Thanks!

Very briefly, you need to use ANOVA and/or regressions with dummy
variables (to represent categorical variables). Hope this helps get
you started.
