Re: ANOVA QUESTION - Terminology

I have the following set up:

One group (males, females)
One dependent variable (test scores), but tested pre and post tutoring.

Would this be a repeated measures design?

What would this be called (i.e., One-way ANOVA with repeated measures,
Two-way, etc.)?

Thank you!

I have watched this thread develop over the weekend and
it now seems to have drifted a bit from the original question.
Nevertheless, I too will not answer the question because
I feel there is a more fundamental problem than, "what is
this called?" -- the design appears flawed to me.

You have not stated exactly what you are trying to do,
but I surmise you are interested in whether or not gender
has an influence on the effect of tutoring. This design and,
unfortunately the data I suspect you have already collected
cannot answer this question.

Since everyone received tutoring, you cannot separate
gender effects from tutoring effects. What is required
is to randonly allocate some participants to receive
tutoring and others not. Then you can look at a
differential effect of gender through the "treatment"
gender interaction term in a linear model.
