I'd further add that Y*Z isn't really the combined effect of factors Y
and Z on the DV. It is the effect of the interaction of Y and Z on the
DV. Their combined effect is more properly the effect of Y, Z and Y*Z
on the DV.

N.B. It is more usual to label the factors A and B (or X1 and X2) and
the DV Y.
