Connotation of the word Treatment

Hi,

(Please note, Im not formally trained in stat - just learning)

I read up on ANOVA some time back (G Dallal's web-site and some books)
and learned that the word "treatment" means various levels of a
categorical particular variable (whose levels are exclusive).

If I have a variable which denotes lets say types of media campaign (Im
constructing a hypothetical example) and the different levels/
treatements may be only one from the following 8 types --- a) Newspaper
advertising only b) Newspaper and radio only c) Radio only d) TV and
newspaper only e) TV and radio only f) TV only g) TV, Newspaper and
radio only h) No adverising

Suppose I create 3 dummy variables (one each for radio, Newspaper and
TV) such that a code 1 in them means that particular medium was
employed (if not equal to 1 then the medium wasnt used). Also
combination of 1 and 0's in these dummy variables would tell me whether
it is campaign of type a), b) etc. Now, can I refer to a particular
combination of these dummy variables as a treatment. Is this considered
statistically "correct" language?

I want to know whether treatment as a word can be used only in ANOVA or
can we use in lets say in regression (when I have dummy variables) or
some other case (like within mixed models)?
