Good replies, all.
Maybe I should become a Bayesian, then I wouldn't have to worry about
explaining p-values. :)
I actually came up with a snappy reply once. Another clinician once
said, "Can't we just choose the one with the best p-value?", referring
to a serious of post-hoc categorizations of a continuous variable. I
replied, "It depends whether you want your results to be confirmatory
or exploratory". She didn't have a reply to that one.
