Is there a standard way for dealing with these? (Or is the +/- 2 sigma rule about the best I'm going to get here, too?)
The classic reference on this is Belsley Kuh and Welch, "Regression Diagnostics," John Wiley and Sons, New York, NY, 1980. Feed the three authors names to Google to get more recent references.
