by email.. I might buy a boat in fiji, or burma and use a satelitedeleto
link. You can buy a nice liveable boat there for well under
5k..plush for 20k. 100/mo slip rental. 25c beer. not and cold
running women.
There's also all those guys living on their floating "junks" in San
Francisco bay, rent-free-RE-tax free and it drives the rich guys with
mortgages and high RE taxes nuts.
I recall a special on TV a while back about people how live in house
boats on the Mississippi in Minnesota. I know someone who lived on
a boat in Annapolis Harbor for a while. She said it was awfully
cold in the winter even there. Then there was the special about the
guy who squated in Alaska from age 50 to about 85. before he decided
life in the wild was getting too hard.

you can get decent liveable house boat in the sf bay delta,, fresh
water.. for 5k. fishing is good..
a boat though anchors you to an area.. with a motor home you can take
projects anywhere.
Yeah, but you are also "anchored" to _land_ and anything that is on it,
including "banditos" cops, anything that wants to walk up to your motor
home and hammer, knock on the door, throw bricks through your windows on
the outside of your MH.
In this area, depending on the plushness of yer moterhome.. the
bandito's know that most likely you are completely well armed,
multiple shot guns, a few pistolas, bolo knife.. half nuts and just
hoping some *** will harrass you...so mostly peace happens.
the cops will just ask you to move it if you stay to long. and thats
rare.
if you are going to totally retire then the USA has little to offer
except high living costs... you can live for 300 to 400 dlls a month
in many other parts of the world...
They got the whole spectrum of posh (expensive) to crap (under the bridge)
there, too, at a whole range of costs.
you can keep a boat in the south pacific, and a motor home in calif.
a lot of people do that also...some live in mexico and come to the US
in summer to do their business..its just closed half the year.
search 'expat' on google to get the various options.
I think I could never adjust to Mexico; my body can't deal with heat and
humidity any more.
the coasts are about the same as here, just a little warmer. and
there are sheltered american enclaves... Tijuanna though is another
story. the wild west in many aspects, i was there last summer
getting my teeef fixed :) no ac in the room..nice place 30 dollars a
night. no ac needed. did use the fan in the room however.
the middle class people are lovely to say the least.. more class some
of these than a most i meet in the US. that was typical of the
waitress types i met at sanborns cafe for example. In the US we a
rash of what a person might call the 'plastic' persona...in mexico you
find the read person, and with self respect.. a pleasure to deal with.
i wouldnt trade 4 sausalito babes for even 1 tijuanna babe...
variables of course.
