A drop in the Dow of several hundred points when it's well over
13,000? Try the same amount when it was around 2,500. That happened
October 19, 1987 and the same prognostications were made.

That was a very big drop -- much much more than 400/14000.

Many people needlessly panicked. I held my nose and hung on and did all
right out of that, though it took a while before that happened.

In the case of the stock market crashing in a major way, most likely
what they'll do is close down the stock exchange for a few hours or
days, until the government thinks things have calmed down. (ie. A
type of bank holiday).
