Check again in 1-2 years.

That's what i am going to do. The price of the stocks of this company
are propelled 10-fold up because of the expected profit. They already
trying for 20 years to come to the market with their product.

Which leaves me on the lightspot... I am still a junior research
scientist,

Immigrants often don't do as well as locals.

Oh, thank you so much for pointing this to me !

You are welcome, but I think you already know this.

It does not sound like
you, though.

Why?

And by the way, the "PhD" guy I mentioned in the example is actually
an immigrant from Latin America.

Well, there must be more to the story.

although in a govt lab with a "permanent" employment (which

is rare in this part of the world).

You should be happy with this. I have known peole who worked for decades
without job security and they could lose their jobs any day for any
reason, and lots of reasons not due to their control.

There are rumours going around our lab that the management is about to
implement the plan to split the lab into two parts. They will keep one
part, and they will sell off the other one (the one which has
experimental facilities in them -- it is too expensive for the
management to maintain them). The second part would become a private
company, and would give away their facilities for rent. Such a story
already happened with similar lab overseas. So... even a "permanent
job" is in fact not permanent.

I had this happen to me, and the lab just reorganized and was not split or privatized. Better find out what happens to your pension, and any rights you might have.
