here is what I think. Our govt has gone certifiably criminally
insane..and proven it with this sort of insanity... and the bogus
immigration law that will decimate the nations middle class and in
the
end the tax base etc. Its not rocket science.

So much for the original purpose 'to protect and to serve'.

by the way most dont know that police/ fire and prison guards for the
last 6 years (new laws)... and retiring at 90 to 100% of their last
years income, and 'spiking' that...so the retirement is mostly over
100k, often $130,000 a year... some chiefs of police and fire
retiring
at over a quarter of a million a year...and at only age 51...these
will draw that money for decades.

Fund that is *their problem... thier solution has been this utterly
destructive insanity.

"Virginia legislator introduces new speeding ticket tax that boosts
penalties beyond $3550, driving business to his traffic law firm."

Phil Scott

I happened to listen to the DC news radio station WTOP via
streaming audio today, and they talked about these new fines.
Interestingly their entire take was that it the law is to
discourage dangerous driving. Clearly the quote from the
law in the article says otherwise. Of course, the people
of VA still have the right to "vote the bums out" as someone
once said. The alternative is to *gasp* obey the law and
avoid tickets. (I personally wouldn't live there if I
could avoid it. They have a "personal property tax", which
means they tax your cars (and IIRC some other stuff like TVs)
every year, even after you've bought it and paid sales tax.
They tried to get rid of the car tax, and did partially the
last I heard, but I'm not sure if they decided they could
afford to finish the process or not. It was a big deal and
the false promise to eliminate it won one person election as
governor.)

ps
Its going to get exponentially worse fast as the first huge batch of
baby boomers, 50 million (a third of the total US work force)
retires...ceases to pay high end taxes, moves out of its nice homes
because on the average retirement they cant afford teh property
taxes.............. leavng few who can pay such tax.... depressing
real estate, causing the banks to gear up repossessions.....
or...issue payment reprieves.

reprieves are nice.

Reprieves also disincentive foreign investment which invests for a
*return...not for sport. according the US govt will keep gearing
up the printing presses then lie about it... that works.

it works for about 2 years... then the entire mess goes totally down
the tubes... last time, 1929-1932..stock prices dropped 90%... it
took 10 more years and a war to get it going again.

It got going thanks to the fact that the US was the worlds source of
mfg goods...they had to buy from us... we dug ourselves out.

today...forget it. China can outproduces us at a tenth the cost, and
Korea, and japan, and India, and russia, and half of the EU...

the world will dig out though, the USA will recovery... the low end of
that curve lasts about 100 years though.

(its a 260 year long cycle, depressions every 60, the last cycles the
entire nation..china is just coming out of its last 100 years of
starvation... our US CIA says it and india are due to dominate for the
next 70 years or so...that is uncharacteristically correct )

So, Phil, what are YOU doing, or going to do, to live out the rest of your life, comfortably (meaning the roof doesn't leak, the toilet works, you have enough food, and resources for medical care [on some level]).

And, what else have you done, or going to do, in case we have widespread civil disobedience?
