I keep hearing stories about employers whining that they can't find anybody and that includes the trades. At the same time, I've seen government ads for seminars on how to bring in foreign workers. I also hear of qualified experienced tradesmen who are can't find a job in this country. Clearly the malady that's afflicted the U. S. is taking hold here in Canada.

One of the slick magazines I get devoted a whole issue to offshoring one's business. Had names, phone numbrs of who to contact, how to do it, everything.

Chalk it all up to cheap currency.

Personally, I think the much-lamented worker shortage is an excuse for hiring cheap labour or for not wanting to spend any money.
