Might do the trick. I think I'd still spend a couple of bucks trying
paste wax before dropping more bucks on flashing. But keep us posted
on what you find that works. I remember having to cap my chimney with
wire twice, when the first time I underestimated the enemy and did not
secure it well enough.

After
all, the bugger hasn't gotten up the tree yet (about 15' diameter
covered with flashing)
Hopefully that is 15" in diameter. If not, what kind of tree is it?
