Unfortunately, this tactic is all too common at work and at school.
She didn't even ATTEMPT to make a logical or ethical argument for her
request. As long as she got the "goods" she came for, it's OK.
Society deteriorates with every transaction like this. However, I
don't blame you for giving in. I've been on the wrong end of this,
too. It's really hard, and I've given in more times than not. In part
you give in because it's not worth it, and you're busy. The times I
didn't give in, it took alot of energy to hold up my ethics. For the
fools who engage in this process, the little "victories" can add up to
something significant. We all know of people who are "successful" on
paper, but everyone knows how they got it. I don't understand how
people like this sleep at night, but I'm proud that I'm so unlike them
that I DON'T understand.
