Indeed. It is like in that story about killing a butterfly by time
travellers in the past, which caused whiping out the civilisation.
Suppose, Art did not kill the mouse. It still chewed through the wall
of the capacity with the bird seed. The bird seed woud splash on the
floor. Art would slipped on the floor and fell by his head on the sharp
object and was killed. Thus, he would not be able to consult on one of
his project in biotech which he completed in his past professional
life. That project would come up a number of years later as a basis for
creation of a bioweapon (e.g. new strain of virus).
But now, mouse is dead. Art is alive. He would still be able to consult
on the creation of the bioweapon. Millions of people will be killed.
The civilisation will be wiped out.
