Re: Intelligence, capability and band width

I've noticed in myself huge swings in my thinking ability...
when harassed, or under attack, tired or facing a system
that has been hashed up across many different platforms, and
with some proprietary technology I am not handy with

.... and... I have been given false data while under the gun
to sort the mess out... my mental capacity seems to get
absorbed in the dissonance and it takes a lot longer to
arrive at solutions.... I think its understandable... its
also an issue on the broader spectrum.

same in back stabbing corporate situations. generally,

I think such a mess absorbs a persons intellectual capacity
and greatly limits the quality of their production...

for example in school, a kid that comes from a family where
daddy runs dope and the mother screams at them all day, while
feeding them carbohydrates and sugar is simply not going to
be able to think or perform.

One person I talk to mentioned 'band width limits'...

From what I can tell in the US, with the barrage of
government demands on a person, all the licenses, permits,
tax obligations, and the need to be politically correct
etc.. .and then more abuse from an employer... and his own
stress of living, a persons 'band width' can be more than
maxed out....leaving very little with which to operate...
let alone advance personally or help anyone else or an
employer advance.

I saw 'Hells Kitchen' on the tube tonight... a survivor type
show featuring a chef and two teams of recent culinary
school graduates.. and competitive food service under mild
pressure .... a very interesting and revealing show. It was
what I would call very mild pressure, but it was way more
than many of the people could handle... you get to see all
of the rationalizations..

The incompetents floated to the top fast... many just went
limp.. or lied even when there was no hope of getting away
with it...

I see similar things in the companies I do work for...
workers gone numb...fumbling.. caved in...lying....throwing
things together with no hope that it will function.....just
not at home you might say... many of these have been that
way for their entire lives in many aspects..

I think much of the culture is decimating itself by these
means. ..our band widths are being exceeded...our companies
and governments are tending to grow past viable limits as
the cultural immune systems are failing..... in Texas they
let serial killers out of prison in more than a few cases,
repeatedly to kill again.. no rationale behind it... just
'we let him go'.

I don't have the figures to hand.. but its something like
60% of the US work force is on legal or illegal drugs or
alcohol... a good percentage see shrinks... 40% or so have a
nasty weight and blood sugar problem... 80% are not
happily married,,, 50% get divorced. ... a good percentage
have spouses or kids with those problems even if they do
not...

so then I come along...no paragon of perfection myself...
and am shocked when such a work force screws something
up....

probably I should be surprised that anything gets done at
all, and that management is not incarcerated.....somehow we
muddle through.

it takes a nasty toll though.

I think a person needs to find ways of stepping out of that
entire scene.

There is a web site I ran across years ago, put up by a
retired DuPont chemist, turned gambler and author of some
best selling gambling books... thats his background. I
haven't been to his web site in years.. it is a bit extreme
and across the line in more than a few aspects... maybe just
to be provocative.

He however has coined a few terms and concepts I found
interesting, useful and accurate... you might find them
interesting as well, along with a range of his concepts
about where this mess is headed.

www.neo-tech.com

dang.... I went to the web site again, last visit was few
years ago... it was slipping a little then..now it seems
devoid of its original verve...hopefully something of value
remains..I dont know... the opening salvo though is not a good
sign.

Ive seen this a lot with various people, authors. groups and
etc... the dogma ends up going to complete disreality.
