I wanted to know if there were any success stories about
people
graduating with a bad GPA (say below 3.0) yet with some
extra courses
taken and considerable research done were able to get into
top PHD
programs, in the field of biology.

The thing is, I'm in this situation and will be doing a
post-bacc
(non-degree granting) program at a top school for two years
to better
my credentials. I would love to continue into this school to
do my PhD.
However, my GPA is very low. I'm just looking for anyone
with success
stories right now. Thanks.

The corporate world will find a way to screw you
regardless...with a PhD you are already near the top of the
heap...myself I wouldnt worry about the GPA..
I would specialize in what interests me most...and do
spectacular work in that area...thats the most effective imo.

on the grades issue... real idiots clone all of the crap they
are taught and get top grades...the problem is that what is
taught today in any field is largely wrong, and historically
proven wrong over the following years... some people see that,
look deeper and its that cognitive dissonance that precludes
them absorbing the current line of hogwash.

Corporate america, now in fast decline, cant see that...their
HR people go by the bogus criteria...not actual productivity,
advance or performance... In you case again I recommend
excelling in your specialty.. present that, papers etc..if
that doesnt fly with these people you are better off
elsewhere...as they will have the place stocked with people
who dont perform, posers... thats bad for your health.


Idiocy is contageous... its not possible to think at peak
levels in such an environment, as your mental band width gets
absorbed by the dissonance...and impossible juxtapositions
these seed into the atmosphere.
