Re: Car living: how to prepare for the future in the US

There are places with affordable housing still, but they are in the
flyover zones of the USA. There are lots of very small old houses,
cheap, in these here parts.

That's where my mom lives. Yes, there is still some relatively
affordable housing, but not as much or as affordable as in the
past. And there is the question of getting a job where I could
buy some of that affordable housing. Around here there are
complaints about housing costs, but it is cheap compared to
DC.

Years ago I drove through rural Missouri. The contrast was
interesting. One house would be a shack and the next would
be a McMansion.

They are not building little affordable houses much anymore, but
they are building condos, duplexes and triplexes to some small degree
but these tend to be local govt subsidized projects.

There is a house being built down the road, and every time I
drive by I'm amazed by the small footprint. I have not seen any
that small going up for years. OTOH there is a development
of McMansions being built up the road.
