We're supposed to be impressed by that?

No -it just means the opinion comes straight from the horse's mouth.

I repeat: heads of state should not be quoted as the source of truth or power: Read this book: "When Presidents Lie - A history of official deception and its consequences" by Eric Alterman.

Its like him saying to his electorate -I cannot do anything about job
losses resulting from globalization -if someone else can deliver -go
ahead and vote for him.

He is playing into the ideology supported by "Big Business" and that includes how to make more money for CEOs and the executives.

That is different from a politician promising
and not delivering after he has won the election.

Its a lie regardless.

I think GWB needs to get his feet wet and show american workers he
cannot stop the tide of globalization.

What are you talking about? Bush has been doing nothing BUT
showing that he can't, or more accurately won't even try. Of
course, he's never shown any opposition to globalization that
I've seen.

I meant that he should instead of saying he cannot do anything, ask you
guys for an opinion as to what exactly he should do.

No presidents (or leaders of state) do this. Can you cite examples from history? It is extremely extremely rare.

That (when you get
to decide what needs to be done) is when you will realize that the tide
cannot be turned back. The barriers preventing fre trade are like
levies. Once the levy has been breached -the tide will start coming in
and you cannot wave a magic wand and push it back. If you want to
re-construct barriers, you probably need to make a decision not to live
with the benefits of free trade.

This is so wrong. I just finished reading a book on this.
