What are you talking about?

Yours is an immigrant country in the new world. The old world is a
bit different and a lot more about tribal/ethnic identities.

If the Old World is different, it is not because of tribal/ethnic
identities per se since those exist in the New World. Ask
Canada.

they were wiped out by european settlers

I was speaking of the Europeans, the French and English
speakers who are still arguing over Quebec.

-who did not have any common
tribal identities amongst themselves.

Europeans can be quite "tribal", even today.

In general, the lack of a
national identity applies more so to countries which were formed by a
re-organization of colonial boundaries.
Nationalism is like organized religion. In Utah, they take it
seriously -in california they don't. There are no explanations other
than that different people think differently.

Yeah, so how does that relate to my point?
