Different Realities

Not sure if this even belongs in this group, but I can't seem to find a NG in which it fits.
I've been watching the coverage this AM about the plane crash in KY, and the news outlet interviewed a witness. After his statement, the "talking head" asked an "expert" what he thought about the witness' observation.
The expert said that an "untrained" observer might not be the most reliable one to describe such an event. He noted that, when there are multiple witnesses to the same event, the descriptions will be as many and varied as there are witnesses.
That caused me to think about this: I do understand that people verbalize the same story in different ways, and most people can describe something only based on their personal frame of reference. But what if each individual actually saw something entirely different from another? What if we each existed in parallel dimensions, each having their own particular reality?
I know--that's far out, but it is only conjecture on my part. I realize that each person's thought processes are quite different; but, what if......?
Other opinions and thoughts welcomed.
