You will laugh; I am doing precisely that to my new telephone company.

Day 1, installation; installer pierces radiator feed pipe, telephone not working until 18.00, at which point feed pipe repaired...

....fast forward to last week; they claim in the same breath to have received and yet not to have received my direct debit, and thus want to charge me £10, they also threaten me. My bank advise me that there have been no approaches to them from the new company.

Skimming a lot; this weekend I generated a letter sacking them, on the advice of the ombudsman. I remind them of the logical law that no thing can simultaneously exist and not exist <e.g., payments>, and tell them that on their word I cannot owe them a penny, since they have already collected it. I also advise them that they are a hairsbreadth from a court hearing, never mind the ombudsman. I cite the damage, negligence, harassment and lies, and tell them that a multimedia disc will be lodged with my lawyer.

The letter is a long flame, constructed with an eye to staying free of defamation, backed up by evidence, including digital photographs of the damage, and, yes, an audio CD of our loving telephone conversations, in which they lie through the back of their teeth, all of which will go to the lawyer.
