What does the kookery do to the development and adult functioning
of the unfortunate offspring?  How much of this is accounted for by
the kookery and how much by genetics and how much by parenting
deficits?

I have to say I look at Brad as an exception to the rule but we have too many exceptions.

My best Friend had a Sister in Law who loved her Boyfriend so much she lost her own self respect.

One day I was driving back from Fishing with my Friend, his Wife, 3 Boys and Daughter.
And I saw her Boyfriend BOUNCE her head of a TELEPHONE POLE!!!!!
She had 3 kids by him and he did this right in front of them and the oldest was 5.

I hit the Break was about to get out when both my friend and his wife told me to keep going.
They told me she liked it and if I got envolved she would turn on me.
They were right but I did not understand at the time.

My friend had to take his 2 youngest to the Doctors so I took the two oldest accross the street to go fishing.
The Boyfriend decided to say something to me as I went by so I got out of the Van and kicked his ***.
It felt great but was I any better than him in what I did?

The Boyfriend would make her give him BJ's in the parking lot of Bars in front of people that made me wonder why someone would take such abuse.
He did so many things to her to degrade her and yet she still stood by him.

She had Cancer later and he would steal he pain meds.
She wouldn't go through Kemo because he didn't want her to.
Guess he though she wouldn't get the Drugs he liked if she did.

If she had Kemo she could have lived 10 to 20 years longer or more but that was not to be.
I kick my own *** for not standing up and putting up a stink over this.
If I had the kids would have had a memory of their Mother that was Robbed from them.

Don't know if that's exactly what you were talking about but I think it's along the same lines.
