I live in the US. This is the land of antigaymarriage amendments to the
various state constitutions, and an attempt running through our federal
congress.
Personally, based on the mammalian evidence, it is based in biology.
Period. Still about 30% or more folk decided it is choice alone. (Or
recruitment - even though THEY could never be recruited!) remember we
also have 'therapy' for this 'affliction', mostly aimed and practiced by
ultra conservative religious nutjobs.
I find it also an amazing twist of the term 'conservative'. To look at
the mammalian data, then make up some wild haired idea about humans
themselves and alone is not conservative behavior.
Interesting anecdote (n=2). A couple of female folk have mentioned that
they could understand two guys getting it on, but never two women. (Based
on the content of the porn ads I get as spam, I think it is reversed for
males.) I see this as an interesting projection - guys are attractive,
cute, in a word sexy, so of course guys would like each other.... Flip
for the males.
