Alas, not very realistic:Macromolecule needs several Kilometers to be placed
in picture...huh...

Cathode
Here you see two hidrogen molecules: free, on the surface of cathod (in
green) and in the Macromolecule of Molecular weight about severel hundred
millions(red). You can easily see that velocity V of Hidrogen (or
atoms in some experiments is about 3*10^6cm/sec and energy about 4and
electron-volt, for Macromolecule of several Hundred millions molecular
weight it gives several hundred Ev, what is enough for nuclear reaction.
Here I can show how I recieve meaning for molecules speed:
Let's cosider case when prismal cell is bordered from the sides by two
electrodes and consider H+ ions movement nearby to Cathode. We may
consider, that during dt time cathode would reach n=dt*S*C*V number of H+
ions, where S is area of Electrods, C concentration of H+ ions in water
V speed of movement to Cathode. As the pH of water is about 7,0, number ofV
H+ ions in litter is 6,02*10^17, or about 6*10^23 ions/m^3.
Electric current during dt time transports Q=Idt=q(e)*n=q(e)*dt*S*C*V. For
have V=Idt/dt*S*C*q(e)=I/S*C8q(e). I in some experiments was 1000 mA ans SSeveral
area of Electrodes S=4 cm^3=4*10^6m^3. We have
V=1/4*10^-6*6,02*10^19*1,6*10^-19=2,6*10^4 m/sec=2,6 cm/sec.
Foe Energy in electronVolts we have T=3,55 eV; for macromolecule of
Hundreds of Molecular Weight we have energy of several Hundred eV, which
gives enough energy for Nuclear Reaction
P.S I'm sory for the color, If you wish I may resend by e-mail.

Yes. Here is my simple minded explanation:
