Electrolysis of water is a slow and highly energy inefficient
process.
Not true.
Ok, ok, ok. Yes, you can make it happen quickly, but there is still the
problem of entropy. H2O is a lower energy state than H2 and O2. When
you crack the water molecule to make Hydrogen, you are doing so at a
net energy loss. For every joule you spend breaking up the water
molecules, you'll only get a fraction of that joule back when you
recombine them; the rest is lost. If your electrolysis cell is being
powered by some sort of renewable energy source (solar, wind, etc.),
then this is a non issue.
I know what a Hydrogen car is. I drove one made by GM at a student
science convention a while back.
