I'm running 1280x1024 on a 19" display. 3ghz Athlon and a medium
range 128meg video card. However, some people aren't lucky enough to
own larger monitors and high end video cards. But there are other
reasons for viewing problems. Pretend you have a vision problem and
change your font sizes to 125% or 150% at the system level. A very
tiny percentage (<1%) of the sites you visit should have a problem if
your experience is similar to mine. However, an interesting site like
Brian's has unreadable parts.

So, Brian's web site is NOT for people using laptops, people with
vision problems or those who can't afford high resolution display
hardware? <grin>

<joke on> I don't count WebTV people as real internet users nor
people that should be reading about fusion experiments. They tend to
be the folks that light crosses on lawns when they are not tending
their meth labs. <joke off>

Yup, when you change character sizes, you can get overlap. Problem
is, when you make one web site viewable, you can render others
unreadable. The annoying switching can be avoided by writing web
pages that are not effected by font size changes.

Unfortunately, some people CAN'T read the smaller type fonts. I
thought this was mentioned before but I'll repeat it. For instance, I
have a bit of a vision problem. I have to read with fonts enlarged by
125% to 150% to prevent eyestrain.
The clue as the cause and <shudder> the blame is that 99.99% of all
other web sites appear OK but Brian's web site that has formatting
problems. When you put formatting control into a web page, you may
need to check for things such as screen resolution and font size.
This can be done with Javascript but some people have Javascript
disabled for security reasons.
