The paper describes collisions but perhaps the pinched streams of
deuterons in an accelerated beam might be enough. That is the radio
frequency of the spiraling movement of the protons around the magnetic
field lines plus the frequency that would be produced by the fusion of
adjacent deuterons whose proximity in the slightly higher than room
temperature, pinched together, beam might be enough.
That is enough on top of the charge polarization in the deuterons
produced by the accelerating fields to produce in turn fusion and
higher frequency radiation than that produced by the spiraling of the
deuterons along the magnetic field lines.
