quantum consciousness

Hi,

I keep hearing people stating things like "It has been suggested that
quantum mechanics may be playing a role in consciousness..." *
including otherwise enlightened people such as Roger Penrose
but isn't the fact that MRI ( Magnetic Resonance Imaging ) works
without apparently influencing consciousness or even -possibly
unconscious- regular thought processes a proof for the contrary ?

any thoughts on this, anyone ?
