I'm REALLY satisfied. Back then, well, Italian Navy has always
"internal" Ministers of Navy, and the works of Riboty, Chiodo, Saint
Bon, Brin (esp. these two...), Conz, Cagni, Thaon di Revel &c. are an
excellent background & pedigree. and knowing the innards of Italian
Navy, surely this led to huge changes in the relationship between
politics and military here.
(I'm sure that at the Pentagon and Whitehall aren't exactly pleased....)
Why do you think they noticed?
Right now they're fixated on the interest rates Italy is paying.
Anyone else noticed that Spain has avoided all this shit by just keeping
quiet about their economic woes?

RN has on his side the eastern holdout of the once-proud Mediterrannean Fleet and the natural reluctance of Italian Navy on operating east of Crete, but OTOH they definitively don't want to leave central Med to the care of other allies (esp. ... those with a massive logistical advantage) and USN prefer to keep a low profile, at least until the Cent Med issue is solved and the Marine Nationale has her oversized CVNL shafted & screwed again and w/o embarked aviation there's no hopes of a direct intervention; Italian Navy has the advantage of having not few troops already pre-deployed and Italian Navy's "ace in the sleeve" is enhanced by Damascus being only 80km. ...
