He does have to realize that any "cause" he espouses has just been
totally disgraced by his actions. Maybe not, sad people had to die
because of a fool.
His cause seems to be a mish-mash of neo-nazi ultra nationalist anti-muslim hatred. The cause was already disgraced beyond redemption, so his actions produced only deaths, injuries, property damage, and a new crisis to drive Rupert Murdoch off the front page.
