good riddance dubya.
Meanwhile the same old rascals and their party and corporate masters
remain in the House and Senate - hell, the new VP is one of their
oldest spear carriers.
And your most recent VP wasn't and or isn't ?
Can you say Halliburton ?
Alltogether now.......Sure...
You miss the point.
The new adminstration promised change and brought only the same kind of
crowd we've had for decades.

You see people I see policies. Watch what they do not who they are.
George and *** would even contemplate any of the following, let alone
actually implement them.

Lessee now: close Guantanamo,

Now ?
You mean in a year.. or more.

Within a year (per Executive Order). That, despite the previous
administration's abject failure to keep appropriate and legally-required
records...

I wish him luck in figuring out what to do with them ?
One solution i supose is to take some nice photo's of the prisonors with
the guards shaking hands and such and then just let them go...

let states regulate auto emissions,

Now that will sure help the auto industry out..

Um, first you complain about him not making changes, then when it is
pointed out he is making changes ALREADY, you quibble that you don't
like the changes... Actually, that makes the changes acceptable, since
you were all for the status quo, which is what got us into this mess!

Change for the sake of change is just stupid.
With an auto industry on the ropes does it make sense to now toss in the
potential of 54 seperate emmisions standards ?

* Doubling the production of alternative energy in the next three
years.

Good goal, I doubt they can make it.

Sometimes goals are almost as important as the final product. We are
not being taught metaphysical lessons by Yoda - we are dealing with the
real world.

And setting unrealistic goals does you no good.
Or do we decend into the insanity of the Soviet union where they wrote 5
year plans and then lied to themselves about exceeding them ?

The key will be keeping the energy companies from sabotaging the
process, or getting loopholes built into the legislation, as they did
the last time someone tried to do this project.

Who writes the legislation ?
Seems the fault may lie there.

* Modernizing more than 75% of federal buildings and improve the
energy efficiency of two million American homes, saving consumers and
taxpayers billions on our energy bills.

You mean they will fix the HVAC in our building ?

More likely provide financial incentives for it to be done, unless you
work in a federal building, then maybe (75% stated chance).

State building that gets reimbursed

I'm getting tired of the AC running in December and the heat in July.

Yeah, that happens...

* Making the immediate investments necessary to ensure that within
five years, all of America?s medical records are computerized.

Wonderful goal.

Quite a scary one, though, for privacy reasons. It could be done, but
the penalties for abuse will need to be Draconian. Of course, if we
also get a rational medical system in the deal, there will be far less
incentive for the insurance companies to bypass the law...

Why not just leap to outlawing medical insurance ...

* Equipping tens of thousands of schools, community colleges, and
public universities with 21st century classrooms, labs, and libraries.

Mearly a continuation of what is already occuring.

But it is mainly happening in the richer parts of town, now. I
>>think<< his plan is to extend the reach of those programs.

Perhaps in your town.

* Expanding broadband across America, so that a small business in
a rural town can connect and compete with their counterparts anywhere
in the world.

Fine

Also already in progress. I live in small town America.

So why do the feds need to step in ?

* Investing in the science, research, and technology that will
lead to new medical breakthroughs, new discoveries, and entire new
industries.

A definite change.

* Help create five million new jobs by strategically investing
$150 billion over the next ten years to catalyze private efforts to
build a clean energy future.

Nice talk.
What do they MEAN.

Detail TBA.

I smell BACON, that's what I smell.

* Within 10 years save more oil than we currently import from the
Middle East and Venezuela combined.

I'd rather they just try to cure cancer.
It would be easier.

Not in the least (I worked in cancer research).

That's the point. neither is easy.

* Put 1 million Plug-In Hybrid cars -- cars that can get up to 150
miles per gallon -- on the road by 2015, cars that we will work to
make sure are built here in America.

If I can't afford a new car now why do they think I will be able to
afford a $40,000 Chevy Volt ?

They don't. You also cannot afford a Tesla. 1 million is but a
starting point to ensure financial viability, after all the stops and
starts of the last several decades.

Neither can I afford a Ferrari.
And neither a Ferrari nor a Tesla are used for daily commuting.

How does it make economic sense for a family to purchase a vehicle that
can't go outside the metro area they live in ?

For 40K I can get a Smart4Two AND a nice sized sedan for longer trips
and still have change left over.

* Ensure 10 percent of our electricity comes from renewable
sources by 2012, and 25 percent by 2025.

More hydro then please.

Hydro has its own problems, technical, biological, and social (of
course, they all do/will).

* Implement an economy-wide cap-and-trade program to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent by 2050.

Three card monti on a national scale.

I have my reservations, but what about it is "Three Card Monti?"

The people pushing the idea for "climate change" reasons have a finacial
stake in the idea.

At least there is some positive change going on.
