Actually there was. 13,000 Sailors and marines in those two battle fleets were there for a very good reason. Why would the Liberty have Russian language specialist aboard? Now that you have tried to propagandize and muddy the waters..Crawl back into your Jew hhole and shut the *** up!

Though back in 67 I doubt they were doing much more than taping stuff
for later analysis, retransmission would have been a real stretch.
With the equipment back then , it would have been a stretch to get the
ELINT that they were interested in,

I don't know what planet you live on, But we had some of the finest equipment made and it was cutting edge. The stuff of today is only modified of those day. The Intell F111 was flying missions in 1964.
In 1965 we planted millions of plastic plant looking sensors along the Chinese border. Did you forget the Wild weasels and its equipment
and at that point in the Cold War We had Blackbirds flying the entire
world on IR and mapping missions. We had nuke boats that have manuevered
the Ice caps and could put a nuclear missile within 20 meters of any known
target. The Russians were in the same shape. We had equipment to monitor
underwater cables as early as 1953

with Vietnam running, no doubt everybody and their brother was tasking
for all sorts of RADAR and SIGINT analysis.

As far as the Israelis figuring out it was an American ship, its hard
to see a flag when you're going in in a jet,

Not when it queries your IFF ad you do the same to it. Also those Jets carried no insignia. They were covert. No Jew flag or insignia was shown until one of the boats approached and asked if assistance was needed.
It was vehemently refused. I challenge you to compare an Egyptian Horse Carrier with the USS Liberty. It was a very clear day and the off duty folks were on tropical hours getting a Suntan and fishing.

could figure out ship silhouettes. First thing you take out in an
attack is comm, so that wouldn't be much of a conspiracy proof.

Their communications were Jammed.. In fact *All* American Frequencies, both digital, FM and AM were Jammed.


The Israelis did pay some reparations, though not enough in my
opinion.

They did not pay reparations.. It was a minimum amount taken from
our Aid package to them. We paid our own reparations. That was $3, million toward $1 billion in damages to the ship. Not one dime was paid to the survivors in any way shape of form. Neither was any apology given to any crew member. In facty the crew was threatened with Life imprisonment for even talking about it. Admiral John McCain gave those orders when LBJ demanded them.

I think the Navy did hang them out to dry, but that was
repeated in the Pueblo.

It was not the Navy.. It was the State Department.. In this case directly from Robert McNamara and Lyndon Baines Johnson.


That happened a bit over a year later, I remember going why the hell
didn't we do something. The word that came back was they only had F-4s
on alert with nuclear weapons in Korea. Nobody could do anything.
nobody's head rolled for that one either. I never did believe that
excuse. There were a lot of pissed off pilots in Japan over that one,
no doubt in Korea also. Not to mention a lot of Navy people thinking
of their shipmates.

And so it goes...

We had 2 full battle fllets 300 to 400 miles out. The Suez canal was under threat and the Russians were unhappy.
