Come on, Jack. I know that you're interested in this, and that you want to

it's unfair to expect those who follow SMN to put up with such off-topic
stuff? I downloaded it, thinking there might be a genuine naval angle to it
and could find none. And sorry, no, an article about ancient zymurgy is not
on-topic, seeing as every navy worth its salt, other than the USN, bought the
beer it needed as required.

Now, an article about hardtack, that'd be ObSMN (and likely just as boring).
