You have to realize that each of these groups knows they have it right
and everyone else is not only in error but will burn for their errors
in eternity. It is difficult to realize that the people whom came to
America seeking freedom meant freedom just for them and those who
think like them. They will form agreements with others of similar
dementia but only so long as the cause is forwarded, ie they get their
way in all things.
Is there where the things begin to be murky: generally speaking, in the proceedings of a strong democracy (and USA is definitively a very strong democracy) the fringe ideas are more or less dropped out, both in the forward direction and backward direction, history-wise (that is, both revolutionary and reactionary thinking) and generally the course of development follow a moderate but steady pace; how the US of A keep around this type of drag in his pace, whose, as we can see, is in my analysis severely hampering the progress of the US of A.
One of the interesting sidelights leading to the American Civil War
was the need of the Southern churches to emphasize the Old Testament
philosophy of an eye for an eye, etc. over love and forgiveness
because they had a large pile of guilt waiting for them if slavery was
an evil in itself.
I can fully agree. This can also be transposed easily on the current state of the evangelical & born-again churches, if we subsitituite "slavery" with the current situation of heavy exploitation of resources and lack of care of the weak (whose are also intrinsic traits of the former slavery, by the way..)
Best regards from Italy,
Dott. Piergiorgio.
